The fix is usually more dedicated circuits and a switchboard with enough capacity. If your board is full or trips under normal use, a switchboard upgrade resolves the root cause rather than masking it.
Aging Wiring and Old Switchboards
In older Sydney homes, decades-old wiring insulation can crack and degrade, and switchboards with rewireable ceramic fuses offer none of the protection modern circuit breakers and RCDs provide. This combination is a genuine risk, especially as households add more powerful appliances.

Supply-Side Hazards
Not every hazard is inside the house. A sagging or damaged overhead service line, a leaning private power pole, a compromised point of attachment, or exposed underground mains are all serious dangers — and all sit on the network side.
These can only legally be worked on by a Level 2 ASP. If you see a damaged service line or a pole that's rotting or leaning, keep clear and get it assessed. For anything live or immediately dangerous, treat it as an emergency.

Testing your safety switch, avoiding overloaded outlets, and booking a periodic inspection for older homes catches most hazards before they escalate. Water and electricity — think outdoor outlets and wet areas — deserve particular caution.
