Who Owns the Pole

Many owners corporations are surprised to learn that a pole on their property, or one that serves only their building, is privately owned and therefore their responsibility to maintain. The network is not obliged to repair or replace it — that falls to the strata scheme.

We help the committee understand exactly which assets are theirs, inspect the pole and its fittings, and report on condition so the owners corporation can plan and budget for any works required.

Inspection, Repair and Replacement

Private poles deteriorate over time — timber rots, steel corrodes and pole-top fittings age. A failing pole is a serious safety and supply risk for the whole building. We inspect the pole, its footings and the pole top fuse, and carry out repair or full replacement as needed.

As a Level 2 ASP we handle the network-side connection work involved in a pole replacement, coordinating the supply disconnection and reconnection so the building is off supply for the minimum time.

Defects and Compliance

A private pole flagged on a network defect notice must be rectified within the stated timeframe. We rectify the defect, document the works and provide sign-off so the notice can be closed and supply is not at risk of disconnection.
