What Is a Metering Panel?

The metering panel — also called a metering enclosure or meter box — houses your electricity meter, isolation switches, and the network equipment that sits between the street supply and your internal switchboard. It must meet current network distributor specifications for weatherproofing, cable entry, and clearance. Older fibrous cement, timber, or steel enclosures frequently fail these requirements.

New metering panels must be compatible with advanced metering infrastructure (smart meters) as mandated by the Australian Energy Market Operator. Defect Notice Rectification

A defect notice on your metering panel must be rectified by an authorised Level 2 ASP within the timeframe specified by Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy.
