Why Consumer Mains Need Upgrading

Many strata buildings were wired decades ago for far lighter loads. Since then, air-conditioning, EV charging, larger appliances and additional car-park and lift loads have pushed the original mains beyond their design. Undersized mains cause voltage drop, overheating and building-wide tripping.

Upgrading the consumer mains restores adequate capacity and headroom for future loads. It is often the necessary first step before a three-phase upgrade or a larger switchboard upgrade can deliver any benefit.

Overhead and Underground Works

We handle both overhead mains, connected via the point of attachment, and underground mains run through conduits and pits. Each requires Level 2 ASP authorisation and coordination with the network for the connection at the supply point.

We assess the existing route, size the new mains for current and future demand, and manage the network approval and connection so the owners corporation deals with one contractor for the whole job.

Compliance and Coordination

Consumer mains works often arise from a defect notice or an inspection finding. We rectify the defect, bring the mains up to current standards and provide documented sign-off for the committee and insurers.
