Sometimes a private pole is in exactly the wrong spot — blocking a new driveway, sitting where an extension needs to go, or landing on the wrong side of a new boundary. Moving it is Level 2 ASP work, and Sydney Power Group is an Ausgrid authorised Level 2 ASP that relocates private poles across the Ausgrid supply area — the CBD, North Shore, Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, Northern Beaches, the Sutherland Shire, Central Coast and Hunter.

Reasons to Shift a Pole

The pole often has to move for a new driveway or garage crossover, a home extension that encroaches on the current position, a pool or landscaping project, or a boundary change from a subdivision. Whatever the driver, the pole must end up in a position that meets Ausgrid clearances and keeps the service line compliant — not just out of your way.

Subdivisions & Development Sites

Subdivisions and development sites frequently need a pole shifted to suit new lot boundaries and access, and the timing has to fit the wider build program. Re-Routing the Service

Relocating a pole means the overhead service mains and point of attachment usually have to be re-routed and re-tensioned onto the pole's new position. This typically needs the supply de-energised, so we arrange a disconnect and reconnect to do the work safely and restore power the same day. We check the existing pole's condition too — if it is aged, a replacement in the new spot may be the smarter move.
